This is Sparkplug the robot. Since it’s too hot here in south Texas for heavy knitted blankets or sweaters, I decided to crochet toys for the baby. I hadn’t crocheted in years, much less in the round. It turned out pretty well, considering. I’m also [...]
Just a few things I’m working on… Flying Dog bottle caps with butterfly-bat wings. Inspired by the twisted art of (the totally gonzo) Ralph Steadman. The dangling wings are made of wire covered in glass seed beads with cotton/polyester thread details in the center. Kinda makes me think of dreamcatchers. Only a little more strange. [...]
This baby blanket is coming along nicely. I no longer consider it insanity. Now that I’m a few inches into it, I’m glad I took the extra time to get all the yarn organized before I got too far. These beer boxes are going to save me from alot of headaches in the long run. [...]
Grandma would have been so jealous that I got to see Scarlet’s scarlet dress. Gone With The Wind was her favorite movie and everyone in my family has seen it multiple times thanks her. It was a masterpiece, but so is this dress. Flowing red velvet covered in rhinestones and feathers, it was hard for me to take my attention from it.
I had decided to make a baby blanket in a basket weave pattern with two alternating colors. This requires 20 balls of yarn for the ten repeats I’m using. It seemed a little overzealous at first, but it’s really shaping up. All these yarns became a horrible mess after just 2 rows, so I had [...]
I have a basket full of half-knitted projects that need to be finished and samples for some that were never even begun. I can’t believe I put down this turquoise wool honeycomb scarf (maybe the Texas heat had something to do with it). It’s almost 8 feet long, but I’m going for nine or ten [...]
It’s time to get weaving. The loom wants me to weave it like I stole it, so maybe I should. How exactly one would do that… I’m not sure. Just imagine someone stealing a loom. (Pause for active imaginations.)
